G-EIGHT Game Show Concludes: International Developers Debut, Attracting 20,000+ Gamers

The Second G-EIGHT Game Expo Has Concluded

The second annual G-EIGHT Game Expo wrapped up last weekend. First off, a huge thank you to everyone involved—whether you were staff, developers, or players, both online and offline. It’s because of you that we achieved this significant milestone in the indie game community.

The G-EIGHT Game Show took place at the Taipei Expo Park – Expo Dome, showcasing 155 games over three days and attracting more than 20,000 attendees. This year’s event not only doubled the number of participating games compared to the last year edition but also saw immense growth in game quality, gameplay, artistic style, and even the “usibility”—all thanks to the developers’ hard work! This expo not only showcased the creativity and diversity of indie games but also provided a platform for developers and gamers from around the world to come together.

This year, our three co-founders and the team actively pursued international exhibitors, adding a global flavor to the event. Developers and publishers from the USA, Japan, Korea, and China joined alongside local Taiwanese publishers, moving G-EIGHT closer to becoming one of the ‘Iconic indie game event in Asia.’ We hope to continue bringing Taiwanese players excellent titles that are often overlooked by the mainstream gaming market.

Creating a interactive experience for players is also a key goal of G-EIGHT. We designed a variety of activities, including the ‘Gamers’ Vote’ voting event, which over 10,000 gamers participated in, and a collectible card initiative that issued 47,500 cards this year. The visitor and participant numbers far exceeded our expectations, proving the gaming community’s love and support for indie games. Both casual gamers and seasoned critics found something special here.

Finally, the success of the expo is measured not just in the number of games displayed or attendees but in the promotion and support of indie game culture. With ‘G-EIGHT 2023’ now closed, we are already planning next year’s event and hope to see you all again soon!
